A week has passed since the release of Stranger Things Series Finale, and what a week it has been. While hardcore (or biased fans) loved every bit of it, the other group of fans (cinephiles) found it to be meh. But whatever the reaction may be, the show has surely generated a lot of conversation along with insane theories over the internet.

I personally had so many expectations with the series finale, but was very disappointed with the outcome, except obviously the epilogue. To be honest, I missed out on the entire point of this season and felt it was unnecessary and stretched. Well, of course, many things worked for me, like the third and sixth episodes, but the final goodbye wasn’t good enough.

However, setting aside my emotions and personal opinions, I was still unable to answer 5 questions after watching 8 full-length episodes of the final season. Let’s discuss those and see if you share the same feelings.

Where did the Demogorgons and Demobats go?

Since the very first season of Stranger Things, one thing has remained permanent, and that is the Demogorgons. They didn’t just give nightmares to the people of Hawkins, but they also worked as a terror for us, the audience. It seemed like they were omnipresent in the Abyss or the Upside Down until season 4, when the Duffer Brothers introduced us to another level of terror, the Demobats. These flying evil bat-like monsters even took out one of the coolest characters of the show – Eddie (Hellfire Club for life)!

But what actually happened to them, especially after episode 4, when they were taken out by Will? I didn’t see any glimpse of them when the kids of Hawkins went into the Upside Down for a crawl to take out Vecna. Shouldn’t Vecna impose them even during the final battle to save himself? More surprisingly, what happened to the Demobats? In Stranger Things Season 5, I can’t remember that they were even mentioned once. Did I miss anything?

What happened to the military and Dr.Kay?

In the new season, we can see that the army is in charge of the entire town of Hawkins. They can be seen cordoning off the lab and stitching the damaged areas (openings to the Upside Down) with metal bandages. We can also find a new character in the form of Dr.Kay, who has been experimenting by capturing Kali and draining her blood to use it for a new form of Project MKUltra.

We saw her last when Eleven and her entire team tried to come out of the portal off the military base from the Upside Down and ultimately got captured by the military. But what happened to Dr.Kay after that? Was her cruel plan leaked to the public? Did she get arrested or punished? Is she alive and still trying to restart her mission with the help of other similar kids? Sadly, we don’t know.

Why did Vecna need exactly 12 kids or vessels?

Stranger Things Season 5 was about Vecna or Henry’s quest to find 12 children and manipulate them to use them as his vessel. We can also see Holy Wheeler play a huge part in this season. While it promised to be something big and meaningful, we didn’t get any answer Stranger Things Series Finale.

The makers had heavy monologues and dialogues about how it was easy for Henry or Vecna to get hold of those children and use them, but why exactly 12 in number? This wasn’t answered.

Why was there no epilogue about Suzie and Vickie?

Vickie had a greater role to play in the final season of Stranger Things. She was pivotal in bringing back Max, and she played a very badass role. I personally like her character development, but sadly, she didn’t have the sendoff that she deserved.

She was last spotted when the team came out of the portal, but what happened to her after that is still unknown. We can see that Robin shifted to another city post the earthquake cover-up of Hawkins, but she never mentioned anything about Vickie. Was this a loophole in the script, or was she left out intentionally for a later spinoff?

Also what happened to Suzie? I mean sure, we see Dustin pushing away people after the death of Eddie. But aren’t we owed an answer for the disappearance of one half of that sweet couple?

What is that stone that gave Henry his powers?

Max and Holy find out that Henry has a bad memory regarding the mysterious cave from which he ran away. Later, we are shown the real reason behind it and how Henry got his powers from a mysterious stone, probably from another dimension or a weapon developed by the Russians during World War II. But what exactly is that stone, and where did it come from?

Hardcore, unbiased fans may argue that to fully enjoy this season, we need to see or at least have some knowledge about the Stranger Things Stage Play, but is it feasible for everyone to see that play? No. So, aren’t the makers responsible for giving us a proper answer when you are actually ending the show?

There are rumours that the showrunners have already planned a spin-off to answer the origins of Vecna, and we can just hope to get our answers.

Final Words

Well, I know that I may get hate comments for voicing my opinions, but trust me, I am one of the biggest fans of the show. I did a complete rewatch of all four seasons in a single week to get the best viewing experience, but sadly, I am dissatisfied with the Stranger Things Series Finale.

I am open to learning and will ask all my readers to comment on anything that I may have missed. There is a wild theory doing the rounds that this was actually a Fake Ending by the Duffer Brothers to fool us, and according to the “Conformity Gate,” the real ending will come out on the 7th of January 2026. While this sounds pretty bogus, the fan inside me hopes this is actually true.

There can be more loopholes and unanswered questions that I may have missed. Let me know in the comments. You can read our dedicated review of the final season here.
