Pati Patni Aur Woh Do Review (2026): Pure Unadulterated Silly Fun

They say you should not judge a book by its cover. That advice rarely applies to movies, but Pati Patni Aur Woh Do proved me completely wrong.

Going in, I expected another formulaic Bollywood comedy packed with cheap jokes, forced glamour, and a story held together by coincidence. Instead, I found one of the more entertaining comedy films Bollywood has delivered in recent years.

This movie embraces chaos from start to finish, and more often than not, it works. Most importantly, it is genuinely funny. Let’s get into it.

What Is Pati Patni Aur Woh Do About?

The film follows Prajapati Pandey (Ayushmann Khurrana), a forest officer whose relatively peaceful life takes a dramatic turn when an old friend, Chanchal Kumari (Sara Ali Khan), asks for help.

Chanchal reveals that she is secretly dating Sunny, the son of Minister Gajraj Trivedi. After a photograph of the couple is leaked online, the minister launches a search for the mysterious woman in the picture. His opposition to the relationship stems from caste prejudice, making the situation even more dangerous.

To buy Sunny enough time to arrange an escape from the country, Prajapati agrees to pretend to be Chanchal’s boyfriend and mislead the people tracking her.

Unfortunately, things become far more complicated than expected.

The journalist responsible for leaking the photograph turns out to be Prajapati’s wife, Aparna (Wamiqa Gabbi), an ambitious reporter chasing the biggest story of her career. While Prajapati tries to protect his friend, Aparna is determined to uncover the truth.

Adding further confusion is Nilofer (Rakul Preet Singh), Prajapati’s colleague and close friend of the couple. What follows is a chain reaction of misunderstandings, mistaken identities, and escalating chaos that forms the backbone of the movie’s comedy.

Ayushmann Khurrana Steals Every Scene

This is one of those films that lives or dies on the chemistry of its cast. Thankfully, the cast delivers.

Ayushmann Khurrana is the clear standout. The film asks him to balance physical comedy, exaggerated reactions, awkward situations, and emotional sincerity, and he handles all of it effortlessly. His comic timing remains one of the strongest in Bollywood, and this movie serves as another reminder of that fact.

Wamiqa Gabbi is equally impressive. Aparna could have easily been reduced to a supporting character, but the script gives her meaningful agency throughout the story. She feels like a genuine co-lead rather than someone existing solely to support the protagonist’s journey.

Sara Ali Khan and Rakul Preet Singh both lean into the film’s exaggerated tone. Their performances occasionally feel over the top, but that energy fits the world the movie is trying to create.

Most importantly, the four central characters work well together. Their interactions drive much of the film’s humor and keep the story engaging even when the plot becomes increasingly ridiculous.

The Movie Requires You to Switch Off Your Brain

Like most Bollywood comedies, Pati Patni Aur Woh Do asks the audience for a healthy amount of suspension of disbelief.

Prajapati regularly finds himself in situations that stretch credibility. Characters possess influence that feels larger than life. Certain action sequences and logistical details make very little sense when examined closely.

There are moments where questioning the details will only reduce your enjoyment. This is not a movie built around realism. It is built around momentum, misunderstandings, and comedic payoffs. The more willing you are to accept that, the more fun you are likely to have.

The title may suggest a story centered around infidelity or romantic chaos, but the movie is actually built around friendship, misunderstandings, and a husband trying to help someone without destroying his marriage in the process.

I am giving Pati Patni Aur Woh Do a 3.75 out of 5. It is far from perfect. The plot contains plenty of holes, and some scenes push absurdity to its limits. Yet the film understands exactly what it wants to be.

Its biggest strength is that it never pretends to be anything more than a fun comedy. The cast commits fully to the madness, and their enthusiasm becomes infectious.

If you generally dislike masala comedies, this probably will not change your mind. However, if you grew up enjoying the chaotic Bollywood comedies of earlier decades, there is a good chance this movie will remind you why that style became popular in the first place. This feels like a modern tribute to those carefree, confusion driven comedies that simply wanted audiences to laugh.

As of writing this review, I am not sure whether the film is still playing in theatres near you. Whenever it arrives on streaming platforms, I would recommend giving it a chance. You may come away surprised by how much fun you had. You will also leave with a newfound appreciation for Bua Ji, who ends up being one of the film’s most memorable sources of chaos.
